Introduction to the Potter's wheel. You'll learn basic steps of wedging, centering, pulling clay into cylinders, and trimming your work We'll discuss clays, how to make a glaze, how to stack and fire a kiln.
While the goal of this class is to successfully pull 2 lbs of clay to a height of six inches, we will aim to create 2 mugs, pull and attach handles

While honing skills of centering process and creating cylinders, emphasis will be on controlling and shaping the clay. You will learn to recycle and reuse clay.
While the goal of this class is to successfully pull 3 lbs of clay to a height of 8 inches, we will aim to create 4 bowls of varying sizes.

This session will be focusing on more advanced shaping and collaring skills for larger and more complicated pieces
While the goal of this class is to successfully pull 5 lbs of clay to a height of 11 inches, we will aim to create plates, baking dishes, lidded jars

*You will be required to pay for clay $1 per lb., and $0.03 per CI kiln space use
Handbuilding is a bit more laid back and less intense than wheel throwing. While you do learn to make functional pots, It focuses more on sculptural techniques
Meets once per week. We will start with the basics: pinch pots and coils. Iwill introduce you to the slab roller and bulding from a geometric plan. We will discuss clay, glazes, and firing techniques..

Meets once per week. We will continue with the basic techniques and begin working on the sculptural aspects of clay: hand carving, modeling, and adding sculptural elements.

Meets once per week. Using and incorporating learned techniques, you will choose, plan, and design large sculptural project.
